"What is Love"

Love, the one thing people yearn for. Love, the one thing people seek. Love, something that can hurt, something that can help. Love. Do people really understand the meaning of the word Love? Do people realize the weigh this word carries? Do people know what love is anymore? The good book described love as follows:

"Love is pateint, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." NIV 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Think about a person you used this word Love against. Are you patient with them? Are you kind to them? Do you not boast, are not proud towards them? Do you honor them in everything that you do? Are you manipulative towards them? Saying you Love them so that you can get something from them. Do you forgive them for all of their wrong doings, regardless of what it is? Do you hold grudges against them?

You see Love is a strong word not to be thrown around lightly. In today's society people do not understand the word Love. You look at marriages today and the people in the marriage say they love each other, however within the marriage there is distrust, hard feelings, envy, jealousy and lack of intimacy. Selfishness. If someone is truly in love with another, you will do anything for that other person. You will do whatever it takes to see that person succeed, even if it means depriving yourself of things that you need and you desire. That is the true Love.

Are you ready to deprive yourself for the purpose of another? If not you are not, you are not ready to Love. I say all this to say, if find someone that is willing to lay their life down to see you succeed and reach your goals and aspirations, do take this trait as weakness. See that trait as strength of genuine Love. If you in turn know what genuine love is, dont be afraid to love. Don't be afraid to Love hard. Because Love is the catalyst of change.
